About Fender Jazz Bass
Fender Jazz Bass was launched in 1960 as a development of the Precision Bass incorporating elements from other Fender designs, including the Telecaster and Jazzmaster. The result is an instrument that changed the game, with its wider sonic palette, slimmer neck and heavily contoured body, Fender Jazz Bass has a loud and proud tone that made it a hit with rock, metal, jazz, progressive rock, pop, funk and even punk players. With its brighter tone compared to a P-Bass thanks to its dual single coil pickups, specifically because of the addition of a bridge pickup and the ability to blend between it and the neck pickup, the Jazz Bass is able to dial in tones that were previously impossible. These pickups can be used separately or blended together, allowing for a range of tones to be created. With strong players like Geddy Lee, Steve Harris and Jaco Pastorius adopting the J Bass as their main instrument, it's clear to understand the potential of the Fender Jazz Bass.
Since this is one of Fender's best ever selling designs, it is available across the board at a huge range of price points. This includes the Player Jazz Bass Series, the new Player Plus Jazz Bass, American Professional II Jazz Bass and Fender Custom Shop Jazz Bass. The American Pro II Jazz Bass is a particularly popular addition thanks to its upgraded pickups and many user-friendly features.
The Fender Jazz Bass has often been the model of choice for many professional players. Bassists such as Geddy Lee, Jaco Pastorius, Duff McKagan, Robert Trujillo have all used the Jazz Bass to create original and genre defying tones. For those who take their playing and tone seriously, this a model well worth your consideration.
